Growing into the likeness of Christ.
Everyday we are bombarded with information, new and old knowledge. Knowing things makes you a computer that stores information, but knowing when, where .how , why, and how much, makes you a person with wisdom. The one who acts on this knowledge with wisdom, evaluating according to your value system is one who is being shaped and formed into the image of God.
Once you have the understanding and the discernment to know what to do you will be allowed to enter into a circumstance that will try you and test your ability to overcome.
Without the tests we cannot expect to be promoted to a higher level of responsibility . And we wouldn't want it anyway because we could not handle it correctly.
With God we never fail the test we just keep taking it over until we get it right.
